Champions.

May 28, 2009

I SWEAR I am not going to write too much this time.

I am SO HAPPY that this was an error- and controversy-free final.

The better team won – if anyone claims that to be false, I’d like to meet you so that I can laugh at you in person.

——————————–

Seydou Keita as a forward?!

I’m sorry, Eto’o, for hating you over the past two weeks and doubting your ability. You ROCK.

Xavi and Iniesta, I love you both. I could watch you two passing all day long.

Messi…

Yaya Toure, you ARE a rock.

Carles Puyol, you’re amazing – truly Captain Fantastic.

Silvinho, you outdid yourself today. 36? REALLY?

Busquets, you outdid yourself today. Debut season? REALLY?

Gerard Pique – please please please please always always play like you did today.

Valdes, you are THE MAN. You even beat Park for pace!

The defense played at their best, and surpassed everyone’s expectations with the clean sheet.

Fantastic.

Henry, I’m so happy for you. Mission accomplished!

My favorite moments from the night:

Xavi foxing three Manchester United players with a single touch and swivel to find someone in space.

Iniesta foxing three Manchester United players with a single touch and swivel to find someone in space.

(Both happened.)

Xavi’s ball, and Messi’s header. Both screamed brilliance.

Ronaldo fouling Puyol out of sheer frustration.

Ronaldo crying after the game.

(Pussy!)

Silvinho crying tears of joy.

Guardiola clenching his fists and screaming in sheer elation.

Henry taking the trophy to Guardiola.

CAMPEONS.

Barca! Barca! Barca!

Barca! Barca! Barca!

Well then. What did I tell you? First team to score, wins. That team will be FCB. As I said, so it shall be.

    Victory is sweet.

DUDE. I was scared shitless until about the half hour mark, and I only calmed down after Messi scored. I hated the sight of Tevez coming out but SOMEONE fucked up in Manchester then because they completely forgot about the midfield, which was so stupid no one could have predicted it before the game. Ronaldo and Rooney barely tested Puyol and Silvinho – could have and should have done much more.

Sigh. What a fantastic season it’s been.

And after the disappointment of last year, this is all the sweeter.
